I was not commenting on the fine work that the Priests usually do - that is a given.

And if the wealthy business man couldn't come up with the balance of the funds - he should be congratulated for trying but try alternate means to finance the spire if he really, really thinks the Church could do with something it has survived over 100 years without.

However, if the amount of fervour & time given at last Sundays Mass by anyone, anywhere in town to encourage us to build an un-needed spire was also given to other community projects, Castlebar would be the envy of the nation.
