In reply to your query Jackobite I've no problem with the Priests of any Parish! I just wish as much time would be spent lecturing on the virtues of other Community projects including more facilities for youth of the town (sport is well covered, but not every one is into it),
or advising us on scripture as was spent on the Spire.

The Dublin Spire was another waste of money! I did object, but again the wishes of a few went against the concerns of many.

As for my role in the Parish, I am involved in two community groups on a voluntary basis for many years & plan to do so for many more years
to come. I have often gladly carried 'the can' but, still believe in Zero's original posting "surely it would be better then a social club under the bridge on a friday night" - there is a greater need to facilitate & encourage the youth of Castlebar than to honour our fore fathers with a Spire.
