Everyone seems to know the fine detail of the proposal without seeing the plans. Sheila, you don't even know if alternative car parking spaces are being provided in the plans. None of us know. The Council stands to gain alot from a good deal. Castlebar is a growing town that has large tracts of land not being used to their full potential in the town centre - Hoban's car park and Castle St. car park/Convent site area. The embalance in trading between the Tesco/Dunnes area and Main St. has to be addressed and new businesses means more rates for the Town Council. The traditional town centre cannot stay as it was in the sixties forever. Again, let's wait and see what is being proposed before we put on our Luddite hats.
