religion is determined predominately on where you were born

99% of people who are members of a particular religion only subscribe to their particular religion because its what their parents and their grandparents believed and (particularly in societies where one religion is predominant) what everyone around them believes in.

Very few people ever sit down and think about "why am I Roman Catholic/Anglican, Methodist/Presbyterian/Luthern/ Orthadox/Jewish/Shia/Sunnai/Hindu/whatever" or "is this stuff actually true" oe even "does this stuff make any sense ?"

And before you lapsed churchgoers start feeling all smug ask yourself
"Would I get married in Church ?"
"If I had kids would I Christen/baptise them ?"
"Would I look for a non-religious school" (or if there were no choice would I insist on them opting out of assembly/religion class and lobby my politicians as to why there were no state schools in my town) ?"
"Would I have my funeral in Church ?"
