"You'd have to go back many years to find one party returned to a position of government...."

Its YOU who needs to read up on politics my Friend

First off NOBODY has been "returned to a position of Government" as yet. The first task of the newly elected dail will be to choose a new government. Both Mr Ahern and Mr Kenny are attempting to put together a new government. While Ahern looks more likely to be succesful in this endevor whether he actually pulls it off remains to be seen.

Secondly "Bertie can choose who he wants to join him in govt. PD's&Indo's/Greens/Labour...it's all up to Bertie."
Nope its all up to Bertie AND the leaders of they parties in question as to whether they WANT to be in government with him !

Thirdly No ONE PARTY has been "in a position of government" since 1977-81. For "one party" to be "in a position of government" requires them to win 83 seats or more in the Dail You did get one thing right "its all about the numbers" !
