Posted by MayoLite on June 23, 2007 at 12:12:25: This is Midsummer Night's Eve, aka St. John's Eve. It's a bit of a buzz because St. John is also the patron saint of beekeepers. Flowers in full bloom, bees busy and hives full of sweet honey. A full moon this month is the Mead Moon cos honey is/was fermented to make mead. The origin of the word "honeymoon" as you will no doubt know. A nice time of the year although the weather ain't so hot this morning here in Castlebar. Did the EPA issue warnings about dioxins from bonfires this year again I wonder? Don't put plastic on the fire. It's all downhill from here though, shorter days - Christmas, Halloween fast approaching and what about those back to school adverts on the radio already? |
