flooding

Posted by schmik on June 26, 2007 at 23:33:10:

After watching the devastating footage of the flooding in England on the tele I wondered,if such a thing occured in Castlebar, where in the town would be worse affected? This February gone I witnessed Lough lannagh at its highest level I've ever seen it reach. On the Newport side of the lake part of the roadway was washed away.I predict future flooding into Bolgers car park where the new road/bridge has been errected.Next time you're down that way take a look at how low that bridge is.Even at this time of year there is not an awful lot of space between the level of the water and the arch of the bridge. The other bridges around the town have a much higher arch.
