AHHHH!!! Are we really expected to believe that because Mayo County Council buys space in the Connaught (may be in other papers, I haven't seen them yet) telling us that everything is alright with the water, we are supposed to believe it. Are we to ignore the Primetime special, the EPA reports, the European Parliament legal action, the voices of Jerry Crowley, Harry Barrett, Frank Chambers, Gerry Murray, Michael Ring and a whole host of cross-party politicians who tell us that the quality of water in the county has reached crisis level. The council do a dis-service to themselves, their staff and their citizens (customers). The Connaught does a dis-service to its readers by accepting this nonsense, and it only goes to reinforce the notion that the Connaught journalists have an agenda, and they they are unquestionably pro-council. At least they had the good sense to plaster it with 'ADVERTORIAL'. According to the price list, a full colour page costs €7,260 including VAT. So that Clap Trap may have cost us all nearly €15,000. As they say in the McDonald's ad, NONSENSE! It’s like something out of Communist Russia. George Orwell would have been proud. Are the lunatics running the asylum??? |
