A Garda stops you as you walk on a Castlebar street. You are carrying an unopened 350ml bottle of vodka and a can of red bull in a plastic bag. The Garda asks what's in the bag. You tell him. He takes the bottle of vodka, opens it and starts poring the vodka onto the street. You say to him "you can't do that", he says "can I not?" as he continues to empty the bottle, which cost you €10, on to the street.

What can be done to stop this law breaking Garda? Is there any point in reporting him to the Gardai or is there a police ombudsman in the Republic like there is in Northern Ireland?
