Its not the moderators who determine the content of the board its the people who post on it. The moderators role is simply to remove postings which may be in breach of the policy or the law, delete spam and ban particularly blatant/persistant abusers of the board (Which has only ever happened twice to the best of my knowledge). If the moderators role was to expanded to deleting posts based on some arbitrary criteria of desirability it would lead to all manner of accusations (well based or otherwise) of abuse of power and nobody would agree on where to draw the line. The slippery slope of censorship would be far more damaging to the site than the odd "contentious, insulting and baleful" post which in any case is usually best ignored ? At the end of the day the board is only as good as those who post on it.
