Last Friday night was a night that I will remember with shock and horror at what I witnessed. Groups of young teenagers drunk and spaced out and in dire straits and I was shocked to see 14 and 15 years old kids out on a friday night plastered with alcohol following a rave they attended one lad told me and he siad you want anything you could get it. Where were the gardai I wondered, with so many drink and drug related crimes recently occuring in the news, more vigilance is need to ensure that we protect the innocence of youth. I was appalled to see that drink was freely flowing on the streets of castlebar and walking through the grounds of mayo general seening youths gathered and empty cans and bottles lying every where.Does anyone agree that a new policy in town is needed to curb the alcohol and drugs used before its too late. In my field of work I deal with individuals from drug and alcohol misuse are now presenting with induced psychosis from alochol and drug use and with the recent suicides in the county this plays a major role. So please be vigilant and change the ways of how youth are now spending fridy nights getting hammered and not able to recall what they did.
