Freesat systems are basically a satellite dish/box where you dont have to subscribe to $ky so you just pay for the equipment (and installation) but theres no subscription charges.

Theyre very popular among the migrant communities but they can also be used by English speakers to get the BBC and ITV channels (some versions can also get Channels 4 and 5 but you need a UK card and a suitable box) and a couple of hundred other channels (including News, Music etc)
