Posted by Christian T Sanders on December 17, 2007 at 11:39:31: I am outraged that Castlebar town council put up Christmas lights. In a time when we are meant to be more carbon aware we have a town council riding ruff shot over the local rate payers. We are meant to reduce our carbon footprint but no lets crank up the electricity and not have a care in the world. When the snowcaps have melted and the yeti become extent then how will Castlebar town council feel. As a green Christmas I will not have any lights, in fact I am having a salad for Christmas dinner as the traditional turkey uses too much energy. I have a Christmas branch for a Christmas tree, a branch that fell of a willow tree down in my garden. I will not be buying any Christmas cards instead I will take five minutes and think positive thoughts and wish happiness to my friends and neighbours. On the point of presents, again I need to reduce my carbon footprint so I am afraid I cannot give any presents as it will use an unacceptable amount of energy to go to Archway stores or some other 2 Euro shop. On this note I would like to wish the people of Castlebar a green Christmas. Thanks, Christian T Sanders. |
