It's about time Castlebar truly honoured this local hero. The statue in The Mall was not from the town but from the O'Malley family and no doubt there would be nothing in the town to mark Ernie O'Malley if it wasn't for his own family. Fantastic documentary last night. It wasn't an overtly romantic view that I feared it might be.
