Flynnboy, don't do it. If my young family weren't at such difficult ages, I would high tail it out of this Gawd foresaken hell-hole forthwith.

In terms of work, If you don't mind retail, you're laughing. The cost of living is cripplingly high, the superficial friendliness soon gives way to insularity, distrust and discrimination. There is very little to do for any age group. The councils and government are corrupt, don't even start me on the Erris gas terminal.
As for the weather, it's yuck; very damp, cold and very windy. And thats the middle of summer.

Other than that it's really quite nice! But don't let me put you off, come and see for yourself and in six years time when some other naive idealist writes a similar enquiry to yours on this bulletin board, you can cut and paste this reply in an attempt to stop them ruining the next few years of their life.
