It was refused on architectural grounds - too squat and not in keeping with the original 19000s design for the church - they ran out of money before the church was completed it must be remembered - may have over done the Mock Turtle soup and Boiled Leg of Mutton and Caper Sauce for 'releves'.

They were basically told they needed a proper church architect to design the thing. In view of the 'yoke' that was allowed to hang over the front door since 2000 I think they may have a point architecturally speaking.
