On a personal level I will be calling the Editor of the ‘said paper’ on Monday to make him aware of my disappointment that his treat of legal action means a community of people will be left without a site that means so much to so many. This call will not rude or aggressive but simply to express disappointment and asking him to consider what his actions may result in.

I would like to see some form of protest raised about the issue – and also to try and look for a way to make sure the hard working Moderators are covered (insurance?) and Castlebar.ie is covered in the event of similar events in the future.

I think if this issue can not be resolved at this level there is scope to bring this to the attention of the greater media, and there are organisations (such as www.digitalrights.ie and www.icci.ie) that may be able to assist us in this matter.

Let’s not give up on Castlebar.ie it has become a very important online community for the people of Castlebar and people like me that now live away from Castlebar. Its future must be secured to allow it to continue to be what it is.
