Have you any idea how much recyling costs the local authorities. It costs up to €100k per annum for the paer bins alone. The government has over the past 15 years promoted a policy of reducing the number of waste mgmt companies in each county with the result that we have local monopolies. These companies in turn can now screw each local authority.
Who pays - the rate payers of course. Waste mgmt companies are cleaning up - and not quite literally.
By the way these waste Mgmt companies then sell on the paper/cardboard/tetra etc for approx stg£70 a tonne to a market in the Uk, from there they are graded, some are recycled, some are sold for incineration in Russia and the far East and some dumpded in places like Afghanistan.
And there you were seperating your paper and cans!! It's a total joke
