It depends as well if you are giving as an established couple (married, engaged, shacked up, etc) or whether its single. Also bear in mind they will understand whatever circumstances you are in.

I'd say 250 would be a good single person gift and 500 would be a good couple gift. I do mean GOOD btw, its all relative (pardon the pun) to your circumstances and 200 from a single person is still a lot, ditto for 400 from a couple.
