I flew home into Knock last week...again, I was struck how without Haughey I would probably have had to get into Dublin and negotiate my way down to Mayo.
It's easy to knock (no pun intended) Haughey and Lord knows he had many character failings on the debit side...but it's unfair and disingenuous not to highlight his achievements and the good he did in government, taking the first steps on a nascent peace process and his conversion to fiscal rectitude putting the foundations in place for the emergence of an economy no longer the basket case of the developed world.
