To be really sure you may have to teinstall windows (and all your progams too) plus use Firefox from now on? Turning on the pop-up preventer would be a good move too.

Do you actually have a good virus checker installed? Is it up to date? Did you actually click on links in incoming spam emails without a good virus checker ?

Resetting your browser homepage is neither here nor there.

Ed Gilligan suggested a spyware checker below somewhere. Might be worth trying?
