How many miles to Babylon - how far to work each day my eko friend? And how far to go to buy a simple pint of milk? All clocking up your carbon footprint to the nth? Surface to volume ratios are important. Do you have a footpath or a cycle path outside your home? You may be screened from the road by Leylandia hedges but you still have to take your hybrid(?) car on the road each day adding to the traffic on 80kph roads - which realistically do not have footpaths, cycle paths, bus lanes or pedestrian crossings so that every other rural sucker in their 'ecological dream house designed to the highest standards' is also trundling along each morning in their carbon gasping infernal combustion machines posing a threat to the poor who travel on bicycles or 'heaven forbid' on foot along our county roads.
