The Peace Memorial is what it is.

The last time I was home I was out at Moore Hall and something really confused me. There was a plaque on the front of the house dedicated to the Moore family, erected by the Ballyglass Old IRA. Are they not the same people who burned the house to the ground. Maybe Al McDonnell could figure that one out for me.

Apart from th 1798 memorial, I dont know of any other memorial to the "Cause of Irish Freedom" in the Castlebar area. Maybe the relatives/friends of some of those who fought in the War of Independence and Civil War would like to take up the baton. Thats how the Peace Park came about!
