Yea and how would we select the person(s) to represent us? Exactly,we would need an ELECTION!
Democracy is a great thing so if you're not happy,vote for someone else or run yourself.
Your other point about not been business persons is a very elitist comment - all councillors have access to officials with experience & knowledge in different fields.Or maybe you're trying to promote a prospective Cllr from a business background?
