Local Councillors, are elected to represent local people, and no matter how much you compain its not going to change so get used to it. No person who is asked to come out and give of their time after they have done a days work is going to do it for nothing, would you? local represenatation is the cornerstone of democracy and bring local views to the Council more imporant than ever in these lean times. Councillors get expences but so do teachers and others who do extra work after offical hours have finished, like others getting overtime payments. If people are looking for savings maybe they should look at their own jobs first and see if they would work for nothing, but moan on here as much as you want its not going to change, what are you doing for the local community? how much unpaid work are you doing? if you dont like the situation dont vote for any councillor, and final point i am sure you can go and check what councillors recieve at your local council office.
