Please concentrate when you click on the post followup link. You consistently follow-up on your own cut-and-paste-jobs. You need to be viewing the post you are going to reply to not your own last post otherwise it looks like you are talking to yourself - pay attention now. Now what's this coarse in speech insult. On the rampage? Is it possible to rampage with photons bounced off a phosphorescent screen? Or maybe you're more advanced scientifically than me and you are using liquid crystal pixels to rampage? Eitherway they are made by evil scientists of course. And don't get me started on this internet thing - they say it will never come to much. I even found the last page the other day. And don't let them tell you that it has been around for 5,000 years - that's a lie. If you believe that MRSA and AIDS - are all a plot by rogue scientists then presumably there's no reason why cholera, rubella, polio, small pox were not all invented by mad scientists too - I won't even mention SARS or Malaria (now there' an organism that has evolved immunity!). Perhaps the evil mad scientists invented them to make money by providing cures - aka vaccinations? Call Prime Time and get them to investigate! But have you perchance ever been prescribed an antibiotic by your doctor? Antibiotics interfere with nature big time just as heating your home and driving to work in a fossil fuel car does or flying to the sun for holidays (not too many of us born with wings yet - apart from angels and birds of course). But did you take the antibiotics even though flying in the face of nature? Do a quick count and check whether you and all your family would be alive today without the intervention of antibiotics? Anyone ever had pneumonia, chest infection or got a cut on their fingers? Statistically it's unlikely that you or your siblings would all have survived without this scientific advance. But it's an example of evolution at work - you survive to reproduce producing kids who would never have been born without the intervention of evil scientists. In a pre-antibiotic era your chances were much less. Even one of Darwin's close family died of an infected cut he got while trying to save a patient in an operation. No antibiotics so blood poisoning and death as was the norm 150 years ago. I'm interested in your "hold on to Christianity" item - here's me thinking that you were a Muslim Fundamentalist as they are the biggest objectors to Darwin today in Britain especially. Fundamentalists like the bus bombers or the World Trade Centre guys - they abhor Darwin too. But perhaps you did go to Mass here in Castlebar last Sunday? If so who said the 12:30 in Castlebar? Or were you up on the Mall at the ELIM Church? I wasn't aware that non-belief in evolution was a new article of faith in the Catholic Church nor that it was a mortal sin to study science? Here's a quick quote from the Catechism of the Catholic Church which is about as official as you can get. It's probably on your bookshelf too - or if not you can even Google it. The contribution made by the physical sciences to examining these questions is stressed by the Catechism, which states, "The question about the origins of the world and of man has been the object of many scientific studies which have splendidly enriched our knowledge of the age and dimensions of the cosmos, the development of life-forms and the appearance of man. These discoveries invite us to even greater admiration for the greatness of the Creator, prompting us to give him thanks for all his works and for the understanding and wisdom he gives to scholars and researchers". For some reason it doesn't mention paper tigers or interfering with nature? (But I am assuming that a Castlebar contributor with such views is likely to be of Catholic origin apologies if not.) So what about the Muslims who also object to evolution on religious grounds too. Is their God better than your God? They are all condemned to hell if Pope Pious XII is to be believed in all his infallibility. The Muslims must be right too because the Koran tells them so. And the Jews. We used to pray for them at Christmas and New Year only for some reason for killing Christ. I think this particular prayer used to come right after the special St John Gospel about Creation "In the beginning was the light" and so on. Nowadays of course we just pray that the Jews won't murder too many Palestinian children in this year coming. Does the Talmud tell them that evolution is wrong? |
