Get used to it. Everyone will pay. Anyone who tells you rank and file PAYE, particularly public service, will get an easier ride by getting some other section to pay is shamelessly buying your vote.

Simple maths say that if 80% of the cost of running the country goes on wages, then those who receive those wages must pay.

Thats not to say that big business won't pay as well but they simply don't earn enough to pay for it all even though individually they earn so much more than a PAYE worker.

When times are bad, business earns very little profit but wages still cost what they cost in the boom.

We can argue all we want about how big business made loads of profit in the boom but its too late to go looking for that now, its like looking for PAYE to pay back the pay rises they received in the boom.
