Among all the doom and gloom many commentators in the UK media are saying the bottom will come in the second half of next year with some more optimistic types claiming they are already seeing signs of recovery.

But in Ireland the consensus seems to be that the slump will last five years or more. Some are even writing off the 1995-2008 boom off as an aberration, which will never be experienced again.

So who is right ?
