Posted by rainy day on April 10, 2009 at 11:01:39: In Reply to: economic recovery posted by Crystal Ball on April 09, 2009 at 21:38:04: in the uk people are still not buying as much even with the cut in tax. if the irish government do the same as the UK i dont think it will work, consumers are not going to spend. with high tax rates for about a year or 2 max and then drop them people are more likey to spend. mentally they think they have more money in their pocket. even though there is some great sales on we are not going to go out and buy because needs become before wants, a few years ago there was no tomorrow, people buying goods they didnt need, and living beyond their means. the one thing that concerns me is cross border shopping, as the more popular it becomes there will be more losses in the retail section, and the goverment will increase income taxes once again
