Not much evidence to support anthing like that theory Eddie. There's debate as to the origins of Irish Travellers, but it's not conclusive, and genetically nobody has been able to trace a 'branching point' in time where travellers became a largely separate group to the general Irish population (although there are genetic traits that are more pronounced in the traveller population as a whole, they are pretty insignificant, and don't point to an isolated origin).
