I have to say I thought the request in the initial post was entirely valid. Everything has a cost as well as a quality assessment, even health.

While it was simplistic to suggest village level cover its equally simplistic to ignore the gist of the original point, which is, centres of excellence, or the current spread of services.

To argue for any option we need to address the quality as well as the cost implications in our arguments.

The Irish Cancer Society is behind the centres of excellence proposal though all admit there are issues to be addressed in regards to the north west.

The centres were originally 4 in Dublin but I think thats down to 3 now and Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Cork.
