But why is cancer care different from acute children's care? In the UK and in Ireland there is only one such hospital for seriously sick children.
Now regardless whether you live in Dublin or Donegal your child will attend the hospital in Tallagh because that is where it is deemed the best care can be achieved.

I live in the UK so don't have a vote in Ireland.

Now my stand:

Am not against regional centres (in fact think there are too many of them).
Transport/parking etc are not valid reasons to spend millions on maintaining further hospitals in the region.
Donegal with its small population is always likely to be overlooked in relation to hospitals because of the fact it is not close to a centre of population.
Comments like 3rd world country roads are ridiculous - have you ever been to a 3rd world country?
But this is typical of reaction in Ireland to most discussions - hyperbole and sheer panic in the absence of substance.
