Its the same as bringing in shopping from any other EU country.

No limits for personal use (except for certain contraband items such as fireworks and the few remaining publications banned by the Irish Taliban)

Some restrictions on items for other people (mainly items subject to Excise duty such as tobacco products, fuel and alcohol) and (legally dubious but youd need to take it to the European court) motor vehicles.

Border checks (whether by Police, customs or other authorities) are now extremely rare. Indeed unless one is familiar with the subtle differences in road signage/markings it is often hard to spot the precise location of the border.
