40%+ of public sector earn less than 40k, I think, and another 30% less than 50k. Would love to see a breakdown of those stats for the private sector, just out of interest.

And take home pay has been more than proportionately affected in the last budget than for a private sector worker in the same situation due to a pension levy of about 7%.

We've done the other argument, and you definitely have a point in saying that it's a fact that the budget isn't there to cover current spending. There will have to be cuts, and some of those cuts will inevitably have to be in wages.

But it's getting a bit sickening to hear loudmouth idiots like the previous poster continue the line that we're all on some gravy train and that we haven't taken any pain from this recession. If the coverage was in any way fair it would make it a lot easier to take it, and to be honest I fault our unions for that, as well as resenting the govt who are hanging us out to dry.
