This is getting a bit monotonous. Tit for tat, the fact is:-
a) public sector have a secured job, (Cowen has not stated redundancies - early retirement which should include a gratuitous pay-off), when in fact all of the top heavy Senior Management should get the boot with their exorbitant salaries for producing internal reports i.e. meaningless;
b) the various Unions who are trying to orchestrate this, are top heavy with Senior Management, (salaries outlined 2 weeks ago vary from €180k - €120k - easy street in my mind, for doing what).
The unions have also unofficially stated that they do not have the resources to subsidised pay, (paying monthly subs is to partially cover no pay in the event of strikes), their funds have been diverted to their management salaries – and that is a fact.
For those thinking of striking in the near future I would suggest you ask your union about this.
The reality is, if the latter occurs, then the government needs to take the line – fine, so be it, they have to suffer it out, (as we all will).
This country is quickly falling into a malaise which is bringing us back to the 1970’s. Time to get real, be it private or public sector, you are the lucky ones to be classed in such – in work.
