Polls have been proved wrong. So now you are saying that if you were abused by a cleric and you resent it for some peculiar reason that you are 'of course', 'prejudiced' and your view does not even count because of your experience of the real world? Is that the official Catholic Church teaching I wonder? Prejudiced because you or your classmates were physically, mentally and sexually abused? If that's being a 'realist' and supporting a religious view of life I think you are merely pouring vinegar into the wound or sticking a spear into the side in order to keep the pain going (and that is a deliberate biblical reference in case you were wondering). So breaking down the poll of 1000 people - YOU say that the over 65s (110 votes of the 1000) and the younger votes (350 or so) are slightly more likely to say that the Church should be involved in teaching the next bunch of youngsters as all is forgiven and anyway it didn't affect us? But the remaining 540 votes? Their opinion must have been well above the average of 61% of the 1000 polled who said the Church should get out of educating young kids - but they somehow don't really count because they actually experienced the abuse? The 'abuse is over' - perhaps - but the Bishops still refuse to accept responsibility for covering up and protecting the abusers and you want them to continue running these schools The same schools and parishes that they shifted priests and brothers around from one to the other in order to avoid detection? I think you have to get a grip and accept a certain sense of reality my friend. If the dishonesty is so ingrained in the Church at such a high level why on earth would anyone allow their kids to be indoctrinated by a group who show such a basic dishonest approach to life?
