a cara.....there are those that think it is their inalienable right to own and drive a car.....but driving is a priviledge....we have come along way from the days of pony and trap.....cars ...are powered machines that have high velocity.....and are deadly dangerous if not operated properly.....in the early days ....there were not many cars in the country......the motors were not as high powered as they are today.....and in fact they were not equipped with the bells and whistles of today....
in todays society practically everyone owns at least one car....the roads are much more congested.....so its encumbent on all driversto operate their vehicles with due care and attention.....in north america there is zero tolerance to speed and alcohol....yet there are those that drink ....and speed.....its a far too common experience to wake up and listen to the news.....detailing fatal accidents ....yet therte are those that say this will not happen to them.....
the same applies in ireland.....i have seen cars in ireland with one headlight...no rear lights.....or vice versa....i have experienced drivers who dont indicate....i have experienced drivers who stop dead on the road without warning....people leaning in the windows of a car talking .......with their ass stuck out...... road side...at night yet......one wonders why so many more are not killed.....
the irish are social ...and its great but they need to consider other road users.....in canada...the dept of transport is very active removing unfit vehicles from the road....they confiscate the licence plates ...thus immobilising the car.....
my argument initially was that irish drivers are the worst in the world ...and i still disagree with that statement.....there are those that should not be driving......and when they acquire demerit points...should be removed from driving....insurance companies here.....sock it to the bad drivers.....making it impossible to afford insurance.....here garages when a car is taken in for repair...if features considered essential safety features are below par the garage operators wont release the car until these features are brought up to par.....
as i say when you drive ....drive safe ...for the life you save ....maybe your own.....
