An Appalling state of affairs indeed Oliver. Compounded by the Vatican's refusal to dig into it's chest of coin to cover the settlement costs and litigation fee's that pile up like flies on dung. Costs caused by the 'Sins of the Fathers'. In this case Our very own Irish Fathers, official representatives of The Roman Catholic Church, located in Rome Italy. Or more specifically in an independent country located within the confines of Rome; called "The Vatican". Here the Roman Catholic church is governed world wide, administered, and regulated. Finally a man is elected by his peers, to preside over all the faithfull. The Pope, moral ruler of all catholics,in matters of dogma, his edicts of papal decree are absolute.Does he carry a wallet in his back pocket?, he sure does!, maybe some photographs of family and loved ones, a prayer to St Jude perhaps, his vespa drivers licence, money!?, no, I think not, but a key. The key to the chest of coin. As far as the Irish are concerned he holds the key close to his chest. Here in the America's the final sum to settle the malaise was,Three hundred and Seventy five Million dollars, with one abstention a priest who pleaded guilty and was sent to prison. And still emergent plaintiffs kept coming forward to silence their case, as the precedents dictatated. But I do not re-call the American Catholic church going congregation being called upon to dip into their pockets, to pay the piper. All roads lead to Rome it is said, well, hang a left at the crossroads Padre for Vatican City and the holy seal on the desk that reads "The Buck Stops Here"
