I am comparing the cost of keeping a prisoner in jail for a year v the cost of building an amenity that would help to keep kids out of jail.

I am thinking of the long-term cost to the taxpayer for treating for alcohol and drug dependency. And just above or below this thread a complaint about the signs of our boozing youngsters who are not catered for. A skatepark may be just the thing to save a significant number of our local youngsters from booze and/or drugs.

I suggest that this kind of social infrastructure is every bit as important as providing infrastructure for businesses who employ people to sell drink and take bets from gamblers.
