In recent months theres been a lot of criticism of the system of "parish pump politics" at national level which has served us so badly for decades. Perhaps Enda was conscious of this when making appointments. I find your statement regarding deference to what "the Dublin media" might think as somewhat odd given that in the last couple of decades the office of Taoiseach has been held by people from Longford, Meath, Offaly and even a Northsider (!!!) without undue media attention.
