Nah, I disagree, there's a lot of derelict buildings around at the moment and I for one am glad that the Imperial is finally being rescued.
It's a historic building in a beautiful location and if it's used for anything we should all be happy that it's not let degrade into rack and ruin.
If you've an alternative rescue plan Jordo then I'm sure we'd all like to hear it?
Personally I'd hate to see it become purely an office block, I'd love to see a proper Town Museum of some sort on one level of the building, stick in a bit a Grainne Uaile, the Brownes, the Lucans, 1798, Davitt, Louis Brennan, Margaret Burke Sheridan and maybe make it as a home for materials collected by the MHAS, etc.
You could stick in a nice little Lecture Hall which could double up as a chamber for the UDC.
Potential there alright!
