I would agree with that if I thought it was an economically viable proposal. However I don't see a small town museum as viable. I also believe the physical building, and by association, its historical value, is not lost by local authority use. It was used as a pretty mediocre hotel for years yet its historical legacy hasn't been lost.
Exactly how many rooms are required to do justice to its past ? Maybe the council, when it has money in some future time, may be able to dedicate some rooms to its historical legacy.
In this time, and with the financial pressures the council are under, they should make the best economical use of their purchase for the good of the locality.
