I post on most topics that catch my attention, and normally it's to point out the flaws in the post to which I'm replying- there's not usually too much point in posting a reply that just agrees, is there now?
I almost always 'listen to the point being raised', which isn't the same as chorusing agreement- I think you'll find that my replies on this board through the years have almost always addressed the preceding posts (although, fair enough, oftentimes in a manner more cutting than the poster would like).
What I rarely do is engage in ad hominem criticism based on the name of the poster above the post- which is a lot more than I can say for a lot of regulars or irregulars that I have tangled with (under whatever name they post).
If I 'leap to the defense (sic)' of the council it's no more than a reaction to the fact (imo) that 90% of the criticism of that organisation here is kneejerk, ill-researched and smacks of bar-room expertise. If there were another 10 of me the balance would still not be equal on this board, tbh.
Now, the reply that you've posted this criticism under was neither off-topic nor ad hominem. It was fair criticism, and very much in the same vein as the post to which it responded.
May I ask why you've not had a go at that poster also?
I guess we all have our own little biases.
