There's a lot of people in Castlebar or weren't born or raised here so where would they have come across the knowledge?
Similarly, even if you are a 'local' unless you've been lucky enough to have a knowledgeable teacher or local impart the history of the town to you then it's not going to get into your head by osmosis.
Really it's a poor state of affairs when your criticism of those 'not in the know' consists of the phrase "WAKE UP" . . . why not write up a Wiki page on the history of 'Barrys Castle' or post an article to Castlebar.ie instead.
