That's just plain wrong. The markings will depend on the volume of traffic and he optimum directing of traffic into a small space. It's not just a points of the compass thing. The point is to move as many cars as possible as quickly as possible through the junction. Traffic lights are much less efficient and just marking them all the same for the sake of some 'consistency' ideal is like the guard on point duty who lets 10 cars through in each direction at the junction when there's a big match on - he counts 10 cars going east and then lets 10 cars go west (even though there are 1000 cars coming from Milebush and virtually none going the other direction). It's just nonsense. The rules of the road require you to observe the markings at the roundabout. You wouldn't survive driving through England that's for sure. Each successive roundabout is customised to suit the volumes that flow through it on a daily basis.
