Whats the constant obsession with commemorating M. Horan. They seem to have a weekly slot for it on Mayo Co.Co and Mid West may as well dedicate the morning show to him. I know he did great work, but he has been well remembered with plays, books and documentaries and existing tributes at the airport.

Leave the airport to use what name they see fit. It's the management at the airport who are making a success of it, and a major part of their strategy is clearly positioning and marketing of the services it provides, namely air access to the West of Ireland. Calling an airport after a famous local person may make you feel warm and fuzzy but it does damn all to help a French or Italian tourist plan their trip to the West.
