I have just noticed that a wooden henge has been erected within 50 ft of the chamber at Knowth. If one searches the Meath planning site one can find two applications in the area refs 98549 and sa110408 ,neither of which refer to the henge which is without doubt built on an archaeological site.No near it but ON it. This would seem to set a strong precedent for allowing the building of such henges without planning permission whether on real or supposed archaeological sites .I would invite Mayo County Council et al to comment.
