I regularly walk my dog around Lough Lannagh and my dog is always on a leash. I have never come across any wild dogs. Any dogs off the leash are under control. It's unfortunate that children are afraid of dogs but it's not really the dog owners fault. They are as entitled to be there as much as any parent or child. I see plenty of unruly children though! Many times I have had children run up to my dog and try and pet him or run around him. This is fair enough but I have a young Labrador mix who can be excitable and he will react in an excited manner! The parents then turn in horror as they mistake my dog's excited behaviour for aggresive behaviour towards their child. In my opinion, there are some parents out there who need to teach their children the proper etiquette around strange dogs.
