Harvey Normans have a saorview box for about 60 euro that connects to a regular terrestrial aerial - great signal here in Castlebar for the RTE channels plus TV3 and e3. It has a USB link and you can put a hard drive for recording on it. It seems to be limited to 30GB though as it uses FAT32 so no point putting a big drive.

Remember that we don't have 'Freeview' as such so be careful about UK products - they may be compatible with Saorview but not sure.

For Freesat you need a dish and this will give you all the BBCs and ITVs plus channel 4 and Film 4 and many others (mostly rubbish) for free from Astra 2. It can be difficult to align if you are doing it yourself - you need to get the horizontal and vertical angles bank on - but once you lock on it should work fine apart from some really windy days.

Local names - Tonra?
