Some time in the hours of the 29th or early on the 30th march 1912, on the Antarctic, after having been trapped in a tent by a blizzard for three days, a mere 7 miles from a supply dump, Robert Falcon Scott wrote in his diary "it seems a pity, I can't write anymore" and afterwards "for God's sake look after our families" and the zipped up his sleeping bag and drifted off into a frozen sleep from which he would never awake
